The Bold, Bright, and Beautiful: My Love Affair with Color

One of the hardest questions I get asked, and I hear it often, especially from my grandkids, is: “What’s your favorite color?”

My answer is always the same: I can’t possibly choose just one.

For me, color is more than a single shade. It’s about the way colors speak to each other, how they transform when paired together, how they vibrate with energy when the combination is just right. That relationship between colors is endlessly fascinating to me.

There is a kind of magic that happens on the canvas when everything clicks, when bold reds dance beside deep blues, when yellows hum with turquoise, when contrasts and harmonies collide to create something alive. Watching those interactions feeds my soul. It’s like music, but for the eyes.

This love affair with color is at the heart of my work. Whether it’s the radiant energy of Mellow Yellow, the retro joy of Flower Power, or the strong contrasts in my Prolific series, color is always my guide. It gives voice to emotions that words can’t quite capture.

So, do I have a favorite color? The truth is... NO!

My favorite color is all of them, together, bold and bright, making beauty in the dance of their relationships.
